Nebulizer Treatments

A nebulizer is a drug-delivery device that converts liquid medicine in the form of a mist that you can breathe in through a mask over the mouth. It is the most efficient method of getting medication into your lungs, and is ideal for treating respiratory conditions such as asthma, sinusitis, bronchitis, flu, allergies and other types of lung disease.

Compressed air is passed through the liquid medicine to form tiny droplets that can be inhaled through a mouth piece and mask firmly placed over your face. You will be instructed to breathe normally. The medicine is easily absorbed through the lungs and the entire procedure usually takes about 10-15 minutes.

When compared to an inhaler, the nebulizer is easy to use and more relaxing. It works passively, in that it does not require hand and breath coordination as in the case of an inhaler, and is therefore preferred for children, the elderly and disabled individuals. Further, nebulizer treatments ensure the correct dosage automatically. Nebulizer treatments can be easily administered at an urgent care center with excellent results.
